Audit infrastructure
AlloyScan provides two audit methods to collect network inventory data: agentless auditing via the audit service and agent-based auditing using installed agents on hosts. You can use either method individually or combine both to suit your environment.

Audit service requirements
An audit service computer is a Windows computer on your network where Alloy Audit Service gets installed. This service scans the network and performs the agentless audit of selected computers and devices.

IMPORTANT: An audit service can audit all supported devices and computers on your network. However, to audit Windows computers, they must be in the same domain as the computer where the service is installed.
Audit agent requirements
An audit agent is a lightweight service installed on any computer, whether on your network or offsite. It performs the agent-based audit and securely transmits the results to AlloyScan. The only requirement for installation is Internet access for communication with the AlloyScan server in the cloud, which is why it is typically used on remote computers.
