This article outlines the essential requirements for installing and running AlloyScan and provides necessary hardware specifications, operating system compatibility, and other key factors to ensure AlloyScan works smoothly and effectively.
Audit Service computers
An Audit Service computer is a Windows computer on your network where the Alloy Audit Service gets installed. The minimal requirements for such a computer are:
-
Operating system - Windows 8
-
PowerShell version 5.1
IMPORTANT: The Audit Service can audit all supported devices and computers on your network. However, in order to audit Windows computers, they must be within the same domain as the service computer.
Audit clients
Audit clients are computers and network devices (audit nodes) that can be discovered and audited by AlloyScan. The minimal requirements for audit clients are:
Platform | Version |
---|---|
Operating Systems |
|
Windows |
Windows 7.1 SP2 Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows are supported. |
Linux |
A wide variety of popular Linux distributions, including those based on Debian, Red Hat, and others. |
macOS | Any version |
Networked Devices |
|
SNMP version |

Windows audit credentials
When providing audit credentials for a Windows machine, avoid referring to a real user account. Instead, we recommend that you create a special domain user solely for the purpose of auditing your domain (the "audit account"). Note that in order to create such audit account, domain administrator permissions are required.
