Database Server and Database

Updated in 2021.2

Specify these settings:

  1. In the SQL Server field, choose the SQL server where your Alloy Navigator Express database resides (or will reside if you are creating a new database).

NOTE: If your SQL Server is configured to accept connections on a non-standard port, add this port number after the server name, separating them with a comma; for example: SERVER001,5618.

  2. Provide the credentials of an account with the 'sysadmin' fixed server role. These credentials will only be used for creating the database and will not be stored.

    • To use your Windows account, choose Windows Authentication. You are not required to type in a username and password.

    • To use your SQL Server account, choose SQL Server Authentication and enter your SQL login name and password.

  3. In the Database field, choose the Alloy Navigator Express database. If you are creating a new database, enter a database name.

  4. If you are creating a new database, choose a collation and database file settings:

    • To use the default collation and database file settings, leave the Configure advanced database properties (collation, storage, etc.) box clear. Use this option if you’re not sure about those settings.

    • To choose a non-default collation for the database and (or) change names, locations, or initial sizes for the database files, select the Configure advanced database properties (collation, storage, etc.) check box.

  5. Click Next.

NOTE: If you are upgrading your Alloy Navigator Express database and your database is involved in replication, you should turn replication off. You can turn replication back on after completing the upgrade.
