Setting password policy
Introduced in 2025.2
This page explains how to configure password complexity rules in the Admin Center to strengthen account security for technicians and Self Service Portal (SSP) users. These rules apply only when the system uses passwords for authentication instead of Single Sign-On (SSO).
You can access password policy settings under Password Policy.
To set your password policy:
-
Select the Enforce Password Policy check box to activate password complexity requirements. When check box is deselected, all options below are disabled, and password complexity rules do not apply.
-
In the Minimum Password Length field, enter the minimum number of characters allowed. The recommended minimum length is 8 characters, providing a good balance between security and ease of use.
- Select the check boxes that define your preferred password composition rules:
- Must have at least one upper-case letter
- Must have at least one lower-case letter
- Must have at least one digit
- Must have at least one special character
NOTE: The main goal of a strong password policy is to encourage password diversity. Configure these requirements so that technician and SSP customer accounts use unique, hard-to-guess passwords.
- Under Apply these rules for, select which users the policy will apply to:
- All users
- Technicians only
- SSP Customers only
