MAPI e-mail profile for integration with Microsoft Exchange
Updated in 2021.1
MAPI support is being deprecated. Please use EWS for Exchange on-premises or migrate your mailbox to Exchange Online.
In order to integrate Alloy Navigator Express with Microsoft Exchange through MAPI, you need to create an e-mail profile in Microsoft Outlook. Click here to understand e-mail profiles.
IMPORTANT: The current version of Alloy Navigator Express supports e-mail profiles created only with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Outlook. Profiles created with the 32-bit version of Microsoft Outlook cannot be used.
Normally you would need only one profile containing the Microsoft Exchange e-mail account that Alloy Navigator Express will use for sending and receiving e-mail. This default configuration requires that . So you must create a single e-mail profile for the Automation Server startup account and specify this profile in Alloy Navigator Express when configuring settings for both outgoing and incoming e-mail.
However, in some situations you may be need to have more than one profile. For example, if you want to use one profile for receiving support inquiries and another for receiving approval requests, each profile must be created using an individual Windows account that you specify on the Settings tab when configuring Mail Connector jobs. For details, see Configuring Mail Connector settings.
To create a new e-mail profile containing one Microsoft Exchange e-mail account:
-
Make sure you have the 64-bit version of Microsoft Outlook installed on the Automation Server.
-
A new profile is created automatically when you run Microsoft Outlook for the first time. If you have just installed Microsoft Outlook, you can log off and log on again using your Microsoft Exchange account, run Outlook, and Outlook will automatically create the ”Outlook” profile for that account.
NOTE: For details about creating e-mail profiles in your version of Microsoft Outlook, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article: Create an Outlook profile.
-
Test the newly created e-mail profile by accessing the mailbox via Microsoft Outlook.
