Controlling the Auto-Generation of Identifiers

You can disable the auto-generation of the following identifiers:

• IT Asset s > Asset Tag— This identifier applies to IT assets: Computers, Inventory Items, Software Licenses, and Library Items.

• IT Assets > Barcode— This identifier applies to IT assets: Computers, Inventory Items, Software Licenses, and Library Items.

  NOTE: Asset tags and barcodes are unique throughout all IT assets, i.e. each identifier is unique throughout Computers, Inventory Items, Software Licenses, and Library Items in your database.

• Purchasing > Purchase Order Number — This identifier applies only to Purchase Orders

To control the auto-generation of these identifiers, take the following steps:

1. From the Sidebar, navigate to Customization > General > Object Identifiers.
2. Double-click an identifier. The Auto-generation Policy[Identifier] dialog box opens.

   

3. To enable or disable the auto-generation, select or clear the Generate automatically check box.
4. Click OK.
