Authentication Type

Authentication type determines how the system validates a user's logon information. Network Inventory supports both Windows and standard SQL authentication:

  • Windows Authentication - Users will not need to provide their credentials to log on to Network Inventory, because the system uses their current Windows credentials.
Can be used in Windows domain-based networks only; the SQL Server can be configured to operate in any security mode.

  • Standard Authentication - Each user will need to enter the user name and password to log on to Network Inventory.
Can be used in any networks; the SQL Server must be configured to operate in mixed security mode.
