Managing the Software Catalog

The Software Catalog is a repository of software products that is based on the information collected during the audit. The Software Catalog helps you take control over your company’s software inventory and allows you to track software products efficiently. The Network Inventory application allows you to configure how software products are identified using the Software Catalog (Tools > Software Catalog).

When an Automation Server uploads audit data to the database, it automatically creates software products and adds software recognition rules based on the installation information from the system. You can view those auto-created products, classify them, modify their properties, add new software products, combine several products into a product suite, merge several products, etc. You can also manage software recognition rules for the products and the list of available vendors.
