Configuring Error Log alerts

In the Logs > All Errors > Alerts section you can configure your list of alerts to notify the administrator or any other responsible person when a failure or an event requiring the administrator's attention occurs. These alert notifications are marked as system in the Notification Queue.

To set up sending alerts:

  1. In the Logs > All Errors > Alerts section, click New. The Error Log Alert window opens.

  2. Select an event category in the Category list.

  3. Specify the recipient of notifications:

    • To select the alert recipient from the Person list, click Person and select the desired Person record. Alloy Navigator Express will populate the field with the primary e-mail address of the selected Person.

    • To send notifications to a specific e-mail address, click E-mail and type the address in the text field. To insert a placeholder for dynamic data, click the ellipsis button (or click in a field and press Ctrl+Enter) and select the placeholder using the Select Placeholder window.

  4. In the Subject field, review the default subject template and modify it, if needed. The template contains placeholders that will be replaced with the actual data at run time. To insert a placeholder, click the ellipsis button (or click in a field and press Ctrl+Enter), and choose the placeholder.

  5. Under Message, review the default message template and modify it, if needed. The template contains placeholders that will be replaced with the actual data at run time. To insert a placeholder, click Insert Placeholder and choose the placeholder.

  6. Click OK.

To change the frequency of alerts:

  • At the bottom of the Logs > All Errors > Alerts section, in the Notification Interval list, select the interval to limit the alert frequency. Alloy Navigator Express will not trigger alerts about repetitive events if the time between two consecutive events is less than the specified interval.

    • If you do not want Alloy Navigator Express to generate multiple notifications about repetitive events, select Once. An alert notification will be sent once and will not be repeated as long as the original log record that triggered the notification is available in the Error Log. Once that record is deleted and the same event is reported in the Error Log, this notification will be generated again.

    • To allow sending multiple notifications about repetitive events, select a notification interval:

      • Every hour - not more often than once per hour

      • Every day - not more often than once every 24 hours

      • Every week - not more often than once every 7 days

NOTE: The notification interval should be less than the keep period which you specify in the Error Log settings.
