Configuring Network Device types

You use the Network Inventory > Network Device Types section to manage custom types of network devices.

By default, Network Inventory has several predefined types of the recognized network devices: IPPhone, NAS, Printer, Switch, UPS (for details, see Network Devices grid, All Nodes grid). If you want to monitor other devices, for example, iPads, you can create a corresponding custom type and then manually associate each of the selected devices with this type (for details, see Viewing and Changing Network Node Properties). During the next data upload, specified custom types will not be updated.

You can create, rename and delete custom types of the network devices. In addition, you can set and change their icons.

NOTE: System types of network devices cannot be modified or deleted.
