Configuring Create New Widgets

To configure a Create New widget, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a new Create New widget or open an existing one for modifying. The Create New Widget Properties dialog box appears.

INFO: For instructions on adding or modifying dashboard widgets, see Creating and Modifying Dashboard Widgets.

  2. Specify the widget’s name in the Name field.
  3. Specify the widget’s title in the Title field. The title will be displayed in the widget's title bar on dashboards.
  4. If you want to allow technicians to collapse this widget, select the Allow to minimize widget check box.
  5. If you want to hide this widget when there are no Templates available to the technician, select the Hide widget when data is not available check box. Otherwise, the widget will be shown even when it is empty.
  6. Populate the Templates section as follows:
    • To add a Template, click New, select the Template in the Select Template dialog box, and click OK. The Caption field is initialized with caption of the selected Template Action. If needed, you can customize it. Click OK to close the New Item dialog box.
    • To modify an entry, double-click it, change its properties as needed and click OK.
    • To reposition a widget within the dashboard, select it and then use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
    • To remove a Template from the widget, select it and click Delete.

IMPORTANT: When Alloy Navigator Express displays the Create New widget on the dashboard, it automatically hides Templates for object classes the technician has no Create permission for. For details, see Controlling Access to Objects.

  7. In the Number of lines to display field, select how to choose the height of the widget:
    • To limit the height of the list, enter the number of lines to show. The widget will automatically add a scroll bar when the number of Templates in the list exceeds the specified height. The height will be reduced automatically when the number of Templates is less than the specified height.
  8. To let the widget adjust its height automatically to show all actions, click display all.
  9. Click OK.
