Field Customization

The Field Customization feature in Alloy Navigator Express is a powerful tool for customizing various Alloy Navigator Express data tables to your unique requirements. You can change the existing system (built-in) field labels to what best suits your workflow needs. You can add user-defined fields (called UDFs) as needed. Alloy Navigator Express also enables you to make both system and user-defined fields mandatory or read-only.

You can access all system and user-defined fields in the Customization > General > Fields section. Fields are broken down by object classes.

Alternatively, you can access all fields of a specific object class in the Customization > [Module] > [Object Class] > Fields section.

You can customize system field’s labels globally, across all forms and data views, or locally, for particular views using classification and reference tables. To access these classification and reference tables, go to Customization > General > Fields > Miscellaneous > Classification and Reference Tables.

IMPORTANT: Any of the applied changes will take effect only when the application (the Desktop App, the Mobile App, the Web App, or the Self Service Portal) is restarted.

NOTE: This chapter explains how to manage fields available in the Desktop App. To manage Network Inventory fields, go to Network Inventory > Fields. For details, see Field Customization for Network Inventory.
