Audit Snapshot Viewer

The Alloy Audit Snapshot Viewer is a tool for viewing audit snapshot files.

About audit snapshots

Audit snapshot is hardware and software information about an audited computer at a point of time. It is the result of your audit. Audit snapshot files could be .adt files (computers' snapshots), .adtx files (chromebooks' snapshots), and .scn files (computers' disk scan results).

Audit snapshots are automatically fed into Network Inventory (and then, Alloy Navigator Express).

View audit snapshots

When you view audit snapshots within your Network Inventory or Alloy Navigator Express), you use the embedded Audit Snapshot Viewer. When you need to view snapshots outside your Alloy product, you use the standalone Audit Snapshot Viewer, which comes with your Network Inventory. Actually, in both cases, it is the same viewer in two different modes.

To view an audit snapshot outside Network Inventory:

  • Right-click an .adt or .adtx file and select Open with Alloy Audit Viewer from the pop-up menu. Content of the snapshot appears in the Audit Snapshot Viewer window.

INFO: You may want to manually associate audit snapshot files with the Alloy Audit Snapshot Viewer. For details, see Installation Guide: Associating snapshot files with the Audit Snapshot Viewer.

  • Run the AdtViewer.exe. The executable file is located in the \Program Files\Common Files\Alloy Shared\AuditViewer\bin folder. The Audit Snapshot Viewer starts and displays the Open Audit Snapshot window. Browse for the audit snapshot you want to view and click Open.

  • Run the Audit Snapshot Viewer from the command line specifying the name of the desired audit snapshot file as the parameter:

    AdtViewer.exe [FileName]

where [FileName] is the name of the .adt or .adtx file you want to open.

NOTE: The Audit Snapshot Viewer does not open scan files (.scn) directly. You can view their contents when viewing the accompanying audit snapshot files (.adt).
