Making fields mandatory

Mandatory fields require the user to enter a non-empty value in order to accept user input on full object forms. You can make both system and user-defined fields mandatory.

IMPORTANT: This setting applies only to the field's input control on the full form. It does not create a system-wide business rule or enforce the same requirement on workflow action forms or through other methods of creating or updating objects.

To make a field mandatory on the full form:

1. Go to General > Fields > [Object Class]. Alternatively, you can access fields of a particular object class under Workflow and Business Logic (Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Fields) .

2. Double-click the field you want to make mandatory. The Field Properties (for a system field) or User Defined Field (for a user-defined field) window appears.

3. Under Options, select the Mandatory check box.

4. Click OK.

5. Click Save on the Standard toolbar.
