Conflict Resolution

Alloy Navigator is shipped with the Alloy Discovery Connector an internal tool that imports audit snapshots from Alloy Discovery to Alloy Navigator according to the schedule you specify. During the import process, the Discovery Connector attempts to match Computers from audit snapshots to existing Alloy Navigator Computer records. In order to prevent the Discovery Connector from creating duplicate Computer records, Alloy Navigator uses the conflict policy.—

IMPORTANT: A conflict is detected when a potential duplicate of an existing Computer record appears.

In the Services > Alloy Discovery Integration > Conflict Resolution section, you can define the conflict policy, and view and resolve conflicts if they appear.

Conflict Policy

The conflict policy consists of conflict resolution rules. You can define a number of conflict resolution rules that will be applied between running the two system rules: Equal ID and Default:

  • Equal ID- Checks the ID value, which uniquely identifies the Computer in Alloy Discovery. If a positive match is detected, the audit data overwrites the Alloy Navigator data. Otherwise, Alloy Navigator the subordinate conflict resolution rules are applied. This system rule is always processed first.

  • Default - If none if the preceding rules were triggered, the Discovery Connector creates a new Computer in Alloy Navigator. This rule is always processed last.

Each conflict resolution rule consist of the following components:

  • Conditions to compare existing Computers with new ones imported from Alloy Discovery.

  • Action to perform when the conditions are met.

Rules are applied in the order they are displayed.

If the Conflict Policy section, you can define the conflict policy as follows:

Conflict List

When the Alloy Discovery Connector detects a potential duplicate of an existing Computer record in accordance with the conflict policy, and the respective resolution rule orders manual conflict resolution, a conflict occurs in the Conflict List.

If the Conflict List section, you can work with conflicts as follows:
