Convert Messages in Microsoft Teams into Incidents in Alloy Navigator

Microsoft Teams is the hub for teamwork in Office 365 that integrates all the people, content, and tools your team needs to be more engaged and effective. See how you can create a zap that will convert messages in a Microsoft Teams' channel into Incidents in Alloy Navigator.

TIP: Check out all our ready-to-use integrations with Microsoft Teams.

TIP: You can also send alerts to Teams about events in Alloy Navigator directly, without Zapier. For details, see Alloy Navigator notifications in Microsoft Teams.

  1. In Zapier, click Make a Zap!

  2. Create a Trigger:

    1. Select Microsoft Teams and New Message Posted to Channel.

    2. Sign in to your Teams account. An approval from your Teams administrator may be required.

    3. Under Customize Message, choose a team and a channel.

    4. Let Zapier see if it can find data in your Teams.

Send a test message to the Teams channel. Note that all message fields are available: user: displayName, subject, body: content, mentioned: user: displayName, etc.

  3. Create an Action:

    1. Choose Alloy Navigator and Create Incident.

    2. Choose your existing Alloy Navigator connection (which consists of the API endpoint and the account credentials).

INFO: For details, see Alloy Navigator API endpoint URL and Alloy Navigator account for integration.

    3. Configure your Incident template by mapping fields captured in Teams to Incident's fields.

  4. When you are ready to test the Zap, click Continue and send a test message to the channel in Teams. Wait a minute and see a new Incident submitted in Alloy Navigator.

Once you turn on the Zap, Zapier will automatically convert messages into Alloy Navigator Incidents.
