Discontinued Microsoft SQL Server 2005 support

In an effort to provide you with safe, secure, and high-quality products and service, Alloy Software has dropped the support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 in Alloy Navigator Enterprise. Microsoft stopped supporting SQL Server 2005 in 2016.

If you have a previous version of Alloy Navigator or Alloy Discovery and you use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, you will need to install a newer version of Microsoft SQL Server before migrating your data to the latest version.

NOTE: If you are not sure which version of Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine you have, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 321185 “How to determine the version and edition of SQL Server and its components” at https://support.microsoft.com/kb/321185 and follow the relevant instructions.

The Alloy Navigator Enterprise installation package includes Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express, which is a free edition of SQL Server ideal for powering desktop, web, and small server applications. You can use the Express version of SQL Server shipped with the installation package or obtain a full version from Microsoft.

INFO: For details on Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express, see the Microsoft web site at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165588%28v=sql.105%29.aspx.

INFO: For instructions on installing Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-editions-express.

The database migration procedure supports only a single SQL Server instance. This means the original database created with an earlier version of Alloy product and the resulting Alloy Navigator or Alloy Discovery database must remain on the same SQL Server. If you use SQL Server 2005, you will need migrate to a newer version of the SQL Server.
