Converting Messages Into Objects

The Mail Connector checks for new e-mail messages on the mail server according to the schedule you specify. You can integrate the Mail Connector with an IMAP4, Microsoft Exchange, or POP3-based e-mail account. Incoming messages may be in plain text or in HTML format.

The Mail Connector extracts various data elements, such as Sender, Subject, and Body from incoming e-mail, and then uses that information to create objects or update data records in the system. In addition, the Mail Connector can invoke various workflow steps on related objects and generate E-mail Notifications.

NOTE: If the message sender cannot be matched to an existing Person record, the Mail Connector creates a new Person record. When matching he sender information from the message to a Person record in Alloy Navigator, the Mail Connector uses the Person Matching Algorithm. For details on that algorithm, see Person Matching Algorithm.
