Configuring Create Actions Widgets

To configure a Create Actions widget, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a new Create Actions widget or open an existing one for modifying. The Create Actions Widget Properties dialog box appears.

INFO: For instructions on adding or modifying dashboard widgets, see Creating and Modifying Dashboard Widgets.

  2. Specify the widget’s name in the Name field. This name helps you identify the widget in the list.
  3. Specify the widget’s title in the Title field. The title will be displayed in the widget's title bar on dashboards.
  4. If you want to allow technicians to collapse this widget, select the Allow to minimize widget check box.
  5. If you want to hide this widget when there are no Create Actions available to the technician, select the Hide widget when data is not available check box. Otherwise, the widget will be shown even when it is empty.
  6. Populate the Actions section as follows:
    • To add a Create Action, click New, select the Create Action in the Select Create Action dialog box, and click OK. The Caption field is initialized with caption of the selected Create Action. If needed, you can customize it. Click OK to close the New Item dialog box.
    • To modify an entry, double-click it, change its properties as needed and click OK.
    • To reposition a widget within the dashboard, select it and then use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
    • To remove a Create Action from the widget, select it and click Delete.

IMPORTANT: When Alloy Navigator displays a Create Actions widget on the dashboard, it only shows the Create Actions that the technician has access to, based on the security role membership. For details, see Adding Interactive Create Actions.

  7. In the Number of lines to display field, select how to choose the height of the widget:
    • To limit the height of the list, enter the number of lines to show. The widget will automatically add a scroll bar when the number of Create Actions in the list exceeds the specified height. The height will be reduced automatically when the number of Create Actions is less than the specified height.
  8. To let the widget adjust its height automatically to show all actions, click display all.
  9. Click OK.
