Controlling Access to Administrative Functions

Updated in 8.4

Alloy Navigator offers a number of special Management and Administration permissions for the administrators. These permissions are divided in two groups:

  • Administrative Access — these permissions control the level of administrative access to Alloy Navigator:
    • Basic Administrative Access — allows role members to log in to the Settings and grants access to other administrative tools such as the Import tool, the Automation Server Manager, and others.
    • IMPORTANT: You must always have a role with the Basic Administrative Access permission. It is highly recommended to assign this role to administrators only.

    • General, Security Management, Business Logic Management, etc. — control the level of access to the Settings. Each permission corresponds to an individual section. The Settings hides unavailable sections from the user.
  • Advanced Administrative Functions — these permissions control access to advanced administrative functions:
    • Batch Update — enables making identical changes in multiple records at once. For details, see Help: Batch-updating fields in multiple records.
    • IMPORTANT: In order to enable an administrator to use the batch update operation, you must additionally grant the Modify permission on the objects that will be updated. Otherwise, the administrator will be unable to perform the actual Batch Update. For details, see Controlling Access to Objects.

    • Recurrent Ticket Management — grants access to the Recurrent Tickets feature. For details, see Help: Managing Recurrent Tickets.

    • Local View Management — allows role members to create, modify, and delete local views.

    • Export Views — allows role members to export views data.

    • Sharing Local Views — allows role members to create shared copies of their local views.

    • Local Dashboard Customization — allows role members to locally customize dashboards.

    • Local Snippets Management — allows role members to create, modify, and delete personal snippets. For details, see Help: Using Snippets.

    • Shared Snippets Use — allows role members to use shared snippets. For more information on shared snippets, see Managing Shared Snippets.
