You use the Automation Server Manager to configure and manage the Automation Server.
When configuring the Automation Server, you specify two parameters:
- Startup account - The Windows account under which the Automation Server is running. This account defines the security context for all operations that the Automation Server performs. You can use a built-in Local System or Network Service account, or configure the Automation Server to run under a dedicated Window account.
- Connection - The Database Access Key imported to the Automation Server computer. The Database Access Key defines how the Automation Server connects to the Alloy Navigator database.
To configure the Automation Server:
Under Startup Account, view the Windows account under which the Automation Server runs by default.
If you want to change the Automation Server startup account, click Change Account and set the startup account as needed.
Under Connection, click Import Key and import the Database Access Key using the Access Key Import window. This populates the SQL Server and Database fields with the values from the imported key.
Fine-tune the database connection details, if needed: in the SQL Server field, enter the network address of the SQL Server, which may differ from the SQL Server name specified in the Database Access Key.
Click Test Connection to make sure that the Automation Server can connect to the database using the specified settings.
Click OK to save your settings and register the Automation Server in the database.
NOTE: If another Automation Server is already registered in this database, but is not running, you will be asked to confirm that you want to replace the existing registration. If you proceed, the previous registration will be removed.
To manage the Automation Server:
View the server status at the top of the window. Use the Start, Stop, and Restart buttons to manage the Automation Server.
If the Automation Server fails to start, you can view any related errors in the Windows Event Log. To access the Event Log, select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application from the Start menu. The service name is AlloyAutomationServer8.
NOTE: On restart, the Automation Server first runs overdue (Next Run Date in the past) jobs and triggers, which have been scheduled but have not been run on time.
