Grouping by sorting

You can configure the view settings so that when you click a column heading the records get not only sorted by this column but also grouped. The previously applied grouping (if any) will be cleared.

To enable automatic grouping:

  1. Right-click anywhere in the grid and choose Customize View from the pop-up menu.

  2. In the Customize View window, click the Options tab.

  3. Under Grouping, select the Group by Sorting check box.

  4. Click OK.

Now clicking a column header groups and sorts the records by this column.

To disable automatic grouping:

  1. Select View > Customize View from the navigation menu to open the Customize View window.

  2. Click the Options tab.

  3. Under Grouping, click to clear the Group by Sorting check box.

  4. Click OK.

NOTE: Selecting or clearing the Group by Sorting check box has no effect if you sort records by using the Sorting tab of the Customize View window or grid pop-up menu commands.
