General tab

The General tab shows the basic information about the library item in the following fields:

  • ID - displays the auto-generated number of the library item.

  • Status - shows the status of the library item. The list of library item statuses is defined by your Alloy Navigator administrator.

  • Name - The name of the library item.

  • Asset - If the library item is created for an Asset, this field displays the name and the tag of this Asset. When the field is filled out, clicking the Asset link opens the chosen asset record in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

  • Owner - allows you to associate the library item with a responsible Person. When the Owner is chosen, its field label becomes a hyperlink so you can open the person record by clicking the link. The referenced object will appear in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

  • Type - This shows the type of the library item. The list of available types are configured by your Alloy Navigator administrator.

  • Service - This shows the service associated with the library item. The library item is available to the Receivers of the service: persons, groups, or organizations. When the field is filled out, clicking its caption opens the selected Service in a separate window.

  • Check Out Date - The day the item was checked out. Typically, this field is populated automatically when you "check out" the item by using the appropriate workflow action. Once the item is "checked in", this field is blank.

  • Checked Out To - The name of the Person who borrowed the item. Typically, this field is populated automatically when you "check out" the item by using the appropriate workflow action. When the field is filled out, clicking the Checked Out To link opens the chosen person record in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.. Once the item is "checked in", this field is blank.

  • Due Date - The day the checked out item must be returned to the library. Once the item is "checked in", this field is blank.

  • Description - You can add any description to this field.

The Circulation History grid allows you to keep track of who has borrowed the item and for how long. The Circulation History tab displays the log of loan events for the library item. Each event is described as a row that contains the loaning details including check-out, due, and return dates, and the borrower name. This grid is populated automatically and cannot be edited.

The General tab may also display various user-defined fields in an additional section if your Alloy Navigator administrator has configured them accordingly. The default name of this section is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator administrator may have renamed this section.

NOTE: User-defined fields can appear also on the Custom Data tab (this is the default name of the tab; it can be renamed by your Alloy Navigator administrator).
