General tab

The General tab displays the general information about the Asset grouped in the following sections:

Upper untitled section - displays the ID, status, name,  and text description of the Asset, and the inventory information: the stock room, last inventory date, and the technician who inventoried the Asset.

Categorization section - shows the type and category of the Asset. The lists of types and categories are configured by your Alloy Navigator administrator.

Ownership Information section- allows you to associate the Asset with a responsible Person and also with their Organization and Location. When the Organization, Owner, or Location is chosen, the field label becomes hyperlinked. To view organization, person, or location details, click the link. The object record will appear in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

Identification section - displays three identification parameters of the Asset: Asset Tag, Barcode, and Serial Number.

Product section - contains the information about the Asset's manufacturer and its production characteristics. When the manufacturer is chosen, clicking the Manufacturer link opens the chosen Brand in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

Specification section - shows the Configuration Item (this can be either Computer, or Hardware, or Software License) associated with the Asset and its properties. When the Associated CI field is filled out, clicking the Associated CI link opens the chosen Computer, or Hardware item, or Software License. The referenced object will appear in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

The General tab may also display various user-defined fields in an additional section if your Alloy Navigator administrator has configured them accordingly. The default name of this section is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator administrator may have renamed this section.

NOTE: User-defined fields can appear also on the Custom Data tab (this is the default name of the tab; it can be renamed by your Alloy Navigator administrator).
