General tab

The General tab stores the essential information about the Configuration.

The information is organized in the following sections:

Leftmost untitled section - displays the ID, status, name, and text description of the Configuration

Categorization section - shows the type and category of the Configuration. The lists of Configuration types and categories are configured by your Alloy Navigator administrator.

Ownership Information section - allows you to associate the Configuration with the Person who is responsible for the Configuration and also with their Organization and Location. When the Organization, Owner, or Location is chosen, the field label becomes hyperlinked. To view organization, person, or location details, click the link. The object record will appear in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

Associated CI section - displays the associated Configuration Item and its properties. When the associated configuration is chosen, the field label becomes hyperlinked. To view item details, click the link. The object record will appear in a fly-out preview form. To access its full form, click the hyperlinked field label with the wheel mouse button, or click the Edit icon in the fly-out preview form. The object record will be opened in a new tab.

NOTE: You are able to select various objects as a Associated CI for the Configuration. The classes of objects that may be selected in the Associated CI field include the following: Services, Computers, Hardware, Networks, Documents, Tracked Software, Organizations, Locations, Persons, and Groups.

The General tab may also display various user-defined fields in an additional section if your Alloy Navigator administrator has configured them accordingly. The default name of this section is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator administrator may have renamed this section.

NOTE: User-defined fields can appear also on the Custom Data tab (this is the default name of the tab; it can be renamed by your Alloy Navigator administrator).
