General tab

Introduced in 8.4

The General tab displays the essential information about the Task. The information is organized in the following sections and sub-tabs:

  • Summary - the short summary of the Task.

  • Type - the type of the Task.

  • Priority - indicates the order in which the Task must be performed.

  • Assignee - the name of the Person assigned to complete the Task. When the assignee is chosen, the field label becomes hyperlinked. To view person details, click the link.

  • Parent - the Project or another Project |Task to which this Task is subordinate. This field also shows the summary of the parent object. Clicking its field label opens the record of the parent Task record in a separate window.

  • Milestone - displays whether the Task is marked as a milestone. A milestone is used to indicate any critical point of the Project with a duration of 0.

  • Auto-scheduled - displays whether the Task is scheduled automatically. When this options is turn on, timeframes of a parent Task will be adjusted automatically each time any child Task is rescheduled.

  • Deadline - the date for the Assignee to complete the Task.

  • Planned Start Date - the start date scheduled by the Project manager. This field is shown in a datetime format.

  • Planned End Date - the end date scheduled by the Project manager. This field is shown in a datetime format.

  • Actual Start Date - this field is populated automatically when the Assignee logs the first Task activity. This field is shown in a datetime format.

  • Actual End Date - this field is populated automatically when the Assignee logs his last Task activity with 100% completion. This field is shown in a datetime format.

  • Completion Timing - the completion timing of the Task. The fields displays one of the predefined values: Unstarted, Delayed, On Time, Ahead.

  • Percent Complete - the percentage complete between 1% and 100%.

  • Planned Effort - the planned amount of time for the Assignee to finish the Task.

  • Time Spent - the sum of Time Spent values in all the Task's activities.

  • Start Overdue - shows whether the Assignee started the Task later than planned.

  • Completion Overdue - shows whether the Assignee finished the Task later than planned.

  • Description - shows the Task description. This is a HTML field, so you can use the embedded HTML editor to edit this field. For details, see Using the HTML editor.

NOTE: The tab may also display an additional section with custom, user-defined fields. Custom fields may also appear on a special Custom Data tab. Custom fields are configured by your Alloy Navigator administrator.
