Managing Lifecycle Stages

A lifecycle stage transition defines the process that your team follows for moving an object from its submitted stage through to a completion stage. The movement of an object from one lifecycle stage to another is called a stage transition. Users accomplish a stage transition by performing an action (e.g. Assigning, Implementing, Resolving, etc). Alloy Navigator depicts the stage transition in the progress bar, or the stage transition diagram, so users can gain a top-down understanding of object's lifecycle with a graphical representation of the process that ensures they know where they are at all times.

Initially, Alloy Navigator provides the following stages available for Change Requests: Submission, Approval, Planning, Implementation, Review, and Close. Each stage is mapped to a set of Change Request's statuses. Alloy Navigator shows the lifecycle stage transition for Change Requests in the progress bar at the top of the Change Request form. TIP: The sequence of stages is determined by their display order in the Lifecycle Stages grid. You can change the order using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

You manage the stages using the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification > Lifecycle Stages section. If needed, you can create new stages, rename them, or map stages to appropriate statuses. You can also change stages display order and delete stages that are no longer needed.

TIP: Similar to Change Requests, you can configure lifecycle stages for the Work Orders, Incidents, Problems, Service Requests and Purchase Orders.

IMPORTANT: The progress bar at the top of the object form that shows all stages of the object lifecycle and indicates the current state is available in the Web App and the Self Service Portal.
