Configuring the Alloy Navigator Mobile App

Introduced in 8.7

Alloy Navigator Mobile App is a mobile application which helps you stay connected to the Service Desk module of Alloy Navigator using the native API integration. Technicians can use the Mobile App for receiving Announcements and working with various Alloy Navigator objects (Incidents, Work Orders, Service Requests, etc.).

The Mobile App is available for Android and iOS mobile devices on Google Play and App Store.

Integration of the Mobile App with Alloy Navigator

For integration of the Mobile App with Alloy Navigator, a few things must be in place.

  1. The API module is installed and configured for the Access Token user authentication. For installation instructions, see Installation Guide: Installing and Configuring the API Module.

  2. A configuration for the Navigator Mobile application is included in Alloy Navigator. The default configuration offers a ready-to-use filtered and sorted views for Alloy Navigator objects. You can retrieve data of all available object fields using field names, sorting and filtering rules as request parameters. For details, see the instruction below.

  3. The default configuration also gives you an ability to obtain information about particular objects, such as Incidents, WOs, Service Requests, etc. For details, see the instruction below.

  4. Technicians have the Alloy Navigator Mobile App installed on their Android or iOS mobile devices.

To integrate the Mobile App with Alloy Navigator:

  1. From the Sidebar, navigate to Services > Mobile Applications and double-click Navigator Mobile. The Mobile Application (Navigator Mobile) window appears.

  2. View the Application ID: NavigatorMobile. Alloy Navigator relies on this Application ID, so it cannot be changed.

  3. In the Configuration field, view a simple XML file with the following attributes.

  4. Attribute Description Data type

    Object Name

The Object name. For example, you can see information for Work Orders, Incidents and Service Requests in the Mobile App.

    View Name

The view name to be shown. For example, you can work with one of the following views: My Incidents, Incidents by Due Date, Incidents by Priority, Unassigned, My Service Requests, My Group Service Requests, My Work Orders, Work Orders by Age, etc.

    Field Name

    The Object field name.

    Sortby Field Name

The Object field name by which the view is sorted. By default, the Mobile App views are sorted by priority, due date or status in the descending order. You can customize these sorting options.

The view filter. It allows you to display only those records that meet specific criteria and exclude the rest of them. You can customize the default filters by specifying their SQL WHERE clauses.

  5. Typically, there is a single API endpoint associated with the Alloy Navigator Mobile App, and you can leave the URL Mask field blank.

However, if you need to have different configurations for different API endpoints, you can explicitly specify the API endpoint URL or its significant part in the URL Mask field. This requires you to have more than one API modules configured.

TIP: In order to view the API endpoint URL, start the Web Configuration tool on the web server and navigate to the API module using the sidebar. The URL will be displayed in the main pane on the right hand side, among other configuration information. For details, see Help: Web Configuration.
