Concurrent and Named Technician accounts

Technician accounts are used by technical staff members (technicians) to access Alloy Navigator via the Web App, Desktop App, or the Mobile App.

Alloy Navigator supports two types of Technician accounts: Concurrent and Named.

  • Concurrent — Concurrent accounts are intended for technicians who do not need permanent access to the system, such as IT personnel in different time zones or shift workers. You can create an unlimited number of concurrent accounts. The number of technicians that can work in Alloy Navigator under concurrent accounts simultaneously is limited by the number of concurrent users specified in your product license.

  • Named — Named accounts are intended for technicians who need permanent access to the system. Named accounts can always access Alloy Navigator, regardless of the number of other currently logged in users. Your product license specifies the number of accounts you can designate as named.

You specify the type during the creation new accounts. If needed, you can change the type of an existing Technician account in the account’s properties.

NOTE: Selecting an account type is available only when you have a combined product license. Product licenses with a fixed licensing model (only Concurrent Users or only Named Users) do not offer a choice of account type. For details, see Installation Guide: Licensing.
