Pilot upgrade process

This article lists the steps you should take to perform the pilot upgrade.

  1. Install Alloy Navigator Enterprise:
    1. Install server components of Alloy Discovery
    2. Create a pilot Alloy Discovery database
    3. Activate your pilot Alloy Discovery database
    4. Install server components of Alloy Navigator
    5. Create a pilot Alloy Navigator database
    6. Activate your pilot Alloy Navigator database
    7. Install and configure Alloy Navigator web applications
  2. Test your pilot Alloy Navigator Enterprise system:
    1. Start pilot Automation Server and Inventory Server
    2. Test your pilot Alloy Discovery database
    3. Test your pilot Alloy Navigator database and customize new workflow
    4. Optional: Update your pilot Alloy Navigator data
  3. Switch your pilot Alloy Navigator Enterprise to production:
    1. Stop the production Automation Server and Inventory Server
    2. Force users to log off
    3. Stop the Automation Server and Inventory Server in the pilot environment
    4. Upgrade Alloy Discovery server components
    5. Switch your pilot Alloy Discovery database to production
    6. Activate your updated production Alloy Discovery database
    7. Upgrade Alloy Navigator server components
    8. Switch your pilot Alloy Navigator to production
    9. Upgrade Alloy Navigator web applications
    10. Reconfigure updated web applications
    11. Switch the Mobile App to the native API integration
    12. Redirect Alloy Discovery Synchronization to the production Alloy Discovery database
    13. Redirect Mail Connector to the support mailbox
    14. Delete test notifications and resume the Notification Queue
    15. Start the production Automation Server and Inventory Server
    16. Upgrade client components for technicians
  4. Perform additional steps:
    1. Invite technicians to install the Mobile App
    2. Optional: Update archive databases
    3. Optional: Uninstall Alloy Navigator Enterprise of the previous version
    4. Optional: Remove unneeded SQL Server accounts
