Display options

With display options, you can customize the appearance of your Desktop App: change the style (skin), choose how the Sidebar looks, and change the font.

NOTE: The display options also apply to the other Alloy Discovery components installed on your computer, such as the Settings App, the Database Management tool, etc.

Options window - Display tab

You use the Display tab of the Options window to customize the appearance of the Desktop App. To access the Options window, select Tools > Options from the main menu.

Common controls style section - specifies the look of your Desktop App instance:

• Style Name - the style (or "skin") of the Desktop App. For details, see Changing the appearance of the Desktop App.

Font Customization section - specifies the font for the most of Desktop App screen elements: grids, lists, the Sidebar, the dashboard, etc. For details, see Font customization.

• Use system font - the operating system's default system font.

• Use custom font - the custom font and its size. The list contains all fonts installed on your operating system.

Applying display options

With display options, you can customize the appearance of your Desktop App.

NOTE: The display options also apply to the other Alloy Discovery components installed on your computer, such as the Settings App, the Database Management tool, etc.

• Changing the appearance of the Desktop App

  Alloy Discovery is shipped with several styles (or "skins"), which allow you to change the appearance of general controls such as buttons, radio buttons, check boxes, tabs, etc.

  To change the Alloy Discovery style:

  1. Select Tools > Options from the main menu. The Options window opens.

  2. Click the Display tab.

  3. Under Common Controls Style, select the appearance style from the Style Name drop-down list.

  4. Click Apply to preview the new style. Click OK to save your changes.

• Font customization

  You can change the font for the following Desktop App elements: grids, lists, multi-line text boxes, the Sidebar, and others. This font will be also applied to other Alloy Discovery desktop components installed on your computer, such as the Settings App.

  To change the font:

  1. Select Tools > Options from the main menu. The Options window opens.

  2. Click the Display tab.

  3. Under Font customization, click Use custom font and select the font and size.
     To revert back to the default font of the operating system, click Use system font.

  4. Click Apply to preview the new font. Click OK to save your changes.
